Cosmology, in indigenous societies, is central to the construction of a religious view of the world. In ‘Son of the Sun’, the artist recognizes that the Sun has given life to the earth and the moon and to all who occupy these worldly places. From the darkness came the light and the power brought forth by the Creator. The large concentric circle on the right side of the piece represents the emergence from the Sun. The powerful image of the Son on the left side of the piece brings life and faith to all who inhabit the earth. |
